Spotify has Wrapped. Zomato has nothing. So I designed it.

Spotify has Wrapped. Zomato has nothing.

Zomato sits on some of the most personal data a food brand could have — what you order, when you order it, how much you save, which restaurants you keep going back to. None of it is ever shown back to the user in a meaningful way.

Zomato Unwrapped is a concept feature that changes that. At the end of every year, every Zomato user gets their own personalised story — 10 swipeable cards recapping their food year in Zomato's voice. Funny, a little flirtatious, completely on brand.

Some people leave. Your butter chicken never did.

No end-of-year moment, no free marketing.

Zomato has no end-of-year moment. Spotify Wrapped generates millions of shares every December — free marketing driven entirely by personalised data. Zomato has the same data sitting unused. No reward for loyalty. No reflection. No shareable moment.

Ten cards. One shareable story.

10 story cards — each telling a different chapter of the user's food year. Every card is designed to feel screenshot-worthy and shareable. When users share their Unwrapped, Zomato gets free marketing. When friends see it, they want to order more to improve their own stats next year.

Design decisions

Every card had to feel like Zomato made it — not a designer imitating them.

Real Zomato UI elements

Every card uses actual Zomato components — restaurant cards with rating pills, offer tags, order receipts, delivery timelines. Nothing looks like a student concept. It looks like something Zomato actually shipped.

Different colour mood on every card

Cover is deep red. Savings is forest green. Foodie Score is purple. Distance is teal. Fastest delivery is electric blue. Every card feels like a different chapter — same world, different energy.

Food photography as background

Real blurred food imagery behind every card instead of flat colours. Gives it cinematic depth and warmth — the same treatment Zomato uses in their actual marketing campaigns.

Zomato's brand voice throughout

Every line of copy is written in Zomato's actual tone — funny, self-aware, a little flirtatious. "Faster than Maggi. We don't make the rules. Science." "Some people leave. Your biryani never did."

Designed to drive behaviour

The Rewards card shows locked milestones — 100 orders gets Legend status. Users who see they were 16 orders away will order more next year. The feature rewards loyalty and creates it at the same time.

The cards

Ten chapters, one food year.

Cover · Savings ₹12,000 · Favourite Restaurant · Foodie Score 94% · Rewards Unlocked · Distance 284km · Fastest Delivery 12min · Goodbye — three more still in progress.

💡

A concept, not a shipped feature

This is a concept feature — not an official Zomato product. Designed as a portfolio project to show product thinking and brand design within an existing design system.

Designing within someone else's brand is harder than designing from scratch. Every decision had to feel like Zomato made it — not like a designer imitating Zomato. The copy especially — getting the tone right took longer than the visual design.
